WKB Legal Alert | Family foundations – the legislature’s response to family-run businesses
On 14 December 2022, Sejm (the lower house of the Polish parliament) passed the draft Act on family foundations (further, the “Act”). It introduces the institution of a so-called family foundation into the Polish legal order, which is intended to allow for the efficient and effective intergenerational succession of family businesses. The use of family foundations will prevent the excessive partition of family assets or the need to liquidate them after the founder’s death.

New Year’s promotions
We are delighted to announce that in line with our New Year's tradition, the team of partners and counsels at WKB has expanded. Klaudia Frątczak-Kospin and Piotr Grabarczyk, who were counsels in the restructuring and insolvency team have now been nominated to the position of partners. Promotions to counsels were granted to Paulina Maślak-Stępnikowska and Aleksandra Bączykowska from the intellectual property law team, Aleksandra Dziurkowska from the competition and consumer law team, Jarosław Kola PhD from the public procurement law team and Natalia Kabacińska, Piotr Gajek and Wiktor Iwański PhD from the dispute resolution team.
Change of WKB managing partner
As of 1 January 2023, Agnieszka Wiercińska-Krużewska and Aleksander Stawicki have become Managing Partners in our law firm. They replace the previous Managing Partner, Jerzy Baehr PhD, in this position.

IP STARS has recognised Aleksandra Bączykowska as a Rising Star,  in their newest edition. Aleksandra was previously recognised as one of the IP Rising Stars in 2021.
