UGIVI in Poland for the first time

Last week, our firm had the honour of hosting a delegation of Italian lawyers and experts in the legal aspects of the wine sector belonging to the Italian UGIVI (Unione Giuristi della Vite e del Vino) association: Diego Saluzzo, Alberto Cugnetto, Aurora Visentin, Elisa Pradella, Mariangela Marragoni.

Our guests spent two days with us, during which they participated in a seminar and meetings with representatives of the Embassy of the Italian Republic, ICE, and Cofindustria Poland. The topics of discussion included the differences in the advertising and promotion of alcoholic beverages between Poland and Italy, online sales of alcohol, and the current legal status and labelling of non-alcoholic wines.

During the event, a debate was also held with the participation of: Michał Skup (Head of Legal, Makro Cash and Carry Polska), Dawid Kryszczyński (legal expert, Lidl Polska, arbitrator at the Advertising Council), Diego Saluzzo (President of UGIVI, Studio Legale Grande Stevens), Alberto Cugnetto (Enologist and Viticulture expert, R&D manager for important wine brands) and Sylwia Bonin (expert in winemaking and food microbiology). The panel’s discussion was moderated by Magdalena Zielińska-Kuć and Domenico di Bisceglie.

The meeting with Polish representatives of some of the largest retail chains (both those supplying wine direct to consumers and those serving the HoReCa sector) and Polish Italian wine specialists resulted in a friendly exchange of experience as well as a lively discussion on the distribution and promotion of alcoholic beverages, legislative proposals, and the operation of the wine production market in both countries.

Jan Roliński, Ewa Jaroszyńska-KozłowskaAnna Wiktorow-Bojska, and Jolanta Prystupa also attended the event on behalf of WKB.

During the event, the President of UGIVI presented Magdalena Zielińska-Kuć with an official symbol of the organization, thus confirming that one of our lawyers had joined the association.

Our guests also had the opportunity to visit the Barczentewicz vineyard near Kazimierz Dolny and tour the town and its surroundings. Our guests not only saw a Polish vineyard, but also tasted local wines and regional specialities of Polish cuisine.
